There is no time in a child’s development that is more crucial than their first 1,000 days. From the time of conception until a child’s 2nd birthday, 80% of brain development happens. Quality nutrition during this time in their life allows them to grow and learn and can ultimately determine their future success in all areas of life. During pregnancy, the brain develops quickly. Just 16 days after conception, neural tubes are beginning to form. Four weeks into a fetuses’ development, the brain has around 10,000 cells and by the 24th week, there are 10 billion cells. With all this development happening, pregnancy has increased nutrient demands, yet very few women meet them with their diet alone, which is why supplementation is key to the health of both the mother and her developing child.
